Eco-Friendly Station
We proactively undertake measures to tackle global warming issues to improve natural environment in the design of station building, rolling stock depot building and other railway structures.
Use of Local Products
Using locally sourced wood is an eco-friendly solution that fixes carbon dioxide and saves transportation energy. The use of wood for station building interiors creates comfortable atmospheres. Shin-Tamana Station is awarded from the Kumamoto Local Materials Promotion Association in 2011.

Use of Renewable Energy
We proactively use sunlight, solar heat, natural wind for ventilation; and other renewable energies in the construction of station buildings.

Green Roofs and Railway Property Greening
We plant trees and undertake other greening efforts on the roofs of buildings and on railway properties to restrain the heat island effect and global warming.

Use of Recycled Materials
We use tiles recycled from stones, bricks, ceramics, roof tiles and other wasted materials from construction sites, and other products, thus contribute to reduce trash and use natural resources effectively.
