Economical Overhead Wires for High-Speed Operation
PHC trolley wire is standardly used as economical, simple overhead electric line for the high-speed Shinkansen lines. PHC trolley wire is suitable to high speed operation thanks to its lightweight, high tensile strength, and excellent electroconductivity by precipitation hardening copper (PHC) alloy made of oxygen-free copper, chromium, zirconium, and other addictive.
Train Control System for Ride Comfort
We introduced an on-board oriented automatic train control (ATC) system on the Tohoku Shinkansen between Morioka and Hachinohe aiming to improve ride comfort and to shorten headway.
On the extension of this line between Hachinohe and Shin-Aomori, based on this system, to simplify wayside equipment and facilitate maintenance works, we employed jointless track circuit entirely to Shinkansen line for the first time.
Applying these achievements, we introduced an ATC system compatible with the dual-track section of the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, where the conventional train and the Shinkansen train run together.
Eco-Friendly Roof-Delta Connected Transformer
To alternate conventional transformers that receive over 170kV power for Shinkansen lines―modified Woodbridge-connected transformers―we practicalized roof-delta connected transformers.
Compared to the conventional type, the new transformer has a simpler structure which enables to be not only downsized but also little power loss and eco-friendly.
